My laptop's camera can't turn on. I turned off and on my camera by the settings and i tried the trick that you push the buttons FN + f (1, 2, 3, 4 etc) but nothing helped.

Hi @elmar23,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I am sorry to hear that you are not able to turn On. I would request you to please follow the below steps in order to get it fixed.

Check Privacy Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera.
  • Ensure that camera access is allowed for the apps you want to use.

Update the Camera Driver:

  • Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
  • Expand the Cameras section, right-click on your camera, and select Update driver.
  • Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.

Reinstall the Camera Driver:

  • In Device Manager, right-click on the camera and select Uninstall device.
  • Restart your laptop; Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.

Check the Camera App:

  • Open the Camera app in Windows to see if it opens without errors.

Physical Switch or Cover:

  • Check if your laptop has a physical switch or cover for the webcam. Some models use hardware switches for privacy.

Windows Update:

  • Ensure your system is updated by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.

Scan for Hardware Changes:

  • In Device Manager, click Action > Scan for hardware changes.

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.
