Hi @shaurya1234,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Victus 16 is experiencing issues with the discrete GPU (NVIDIA RTX 4060). Here are some troubleshooting steps to help resolve the black screen issue in discrete GPU mode.
Check Graphics Drivers:
- Ensure that both the integrated and discrete GPU drivers are up to date. You can download the latest drivers from the Intel and NVIDIA websites.
Update BIOS:
- Sometimes, a BIOS update can resolve compatibility issues with hardware. Check HP's support site for any available BIOS updates for your laptop model.
Reinstall NVIDIA Drivers:
- Perform a clean installation of the NVIDIA drivers. Use the NVIDIA GeForce Experience application or download the latest drivers from the NVIDIA website, and choose the "Custom Installation" option to perform a clean install.
Check Power Settings:
- Ensure that the power settings are set to "High Performance" in Windows. Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options, and select the "High Performance" plan.
Verify GPU Settings:
- Open the NVIDIA Control Panel (right-click on the desktop and select "NVIDIA Control Panel"). Go to Manage 3D settings and make sure the preferred graphics processor is set to "High-performance NVIDIA processor."
Check Display Settings:
- Ensure that the laptop is set to use the correct display output. Sometimes the display output may need to be manually switched between integrated and discrete GPUs.
Inspect Physical Connections:
- Verify that there are no loose connections or issues with the internal components. This usually requires professional assistance if you are not comfortable opening up the laptop.
Perform a System Restore:
- If the issue started recently, performing a system restore to a point when the discrete GPU was working might resolve the issue.
Reset the BIOS:
- Resetting the BIOS to default settings might resolve any misconfiguration issues. Access the BIOS during startup (usually by pressing a key like F2, F10, or DEL) and select the option to reset to default settings.
If these steps don’t resolve the issue, there may be a hardware fault with the discrete GPU or another component.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
