Welcome to HP support community.

  • First, try the Hard Reset:

Performing a Hard Reset or Forced Reset

  •  You might want to use System Restore to take the computer  "back in time" to a date/time before everything went sideways:

System Restore sometimes works better if you first drop the system into Safe Mode:

Entering Safe Mode in Windows 7

Restoring Windows to a Previous Point (Windows 7)

Reference:

Using the Aero Graphics Option (Windows 7)

Control Visual Setup:

  • Control Panel > icon View > System > Advanced System Settings >
  • In System Properties > Advanced > Settings
  • In Performance Options > Advanced >
  •  Set to "Adjust for best appearance"

OR

  • Custom and then select the options you wish to use
  • Click OK to save your changes

Let me know if that helps.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.
