@ANANYA091, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

The message you're seeing "Your camera might be covered" typically appears when the camera privacy shutter is closed or the camera is disabled via a physical switch or keyboard shortcut. Let’s walk through a few steps to get your camera working again:

Check the Camera Privacy Shutter

Most HP laptops have a physical shutter that slides over the camera for privacy. Look closely at the top bezel of your screen:

  • If you see a red or white dot, the shutter is likely closed.
  • Slide the shutter to the opposite direction to uncover the camera.

Use the Camera Button or Keyboard Shortcut

Some HP models include a camera enable/disable button:

  • Look for a camera icon on your keyboard (often on the F8 or F10 key).
  • Press Fn + [Camera Key] to toggle the camera on.

Check for a Physical Camera Switch

On certain models, there may be a side switch near the edge of the laptop. Slide it to the "on" position.

Verify Camera in Windows Settings

  • Press Windows + I to open Settings.
  • Go to Privacy & Security > Camera.
  • Make sure Camera access is turned On for both system and apps.

Test the Camera

  • Open the Camera app from the Start menu.
  • If it still shows the same message, try restarting your laptop after checking the shutter and switch.
