Hi @Kately1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP ENVY - 17t webcam is stuck at 30 fps and is flashing red in black and white, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue.
- Update Webcam Driver: Ensure that you have the latest driver for your webcam installed on your HP ENVY - 17t. Visit the official HP support website, enter your laptop's model number, and download the most recent webcam driver. Install the driver and restart your laptop to see if the issue is resolved.
- Check Webcam Settings: Open the webcam settings on your laptop and verify that the frame rate is set to the desired value. You may also find an option to adjust the color settings. Make sure that the color settings are set to normal or default.
- Test Webcam on Different Applications: Try using the webcam on different applications (e.g., Skype, Zoom, or the default Camera app) to see if the issue persists across all platforms. If the problem is isolated to a specific application, try reinstalling or updating that application.
- Disable Special Effects: Some webcam software or applications might have special effects enabled that can interfere with the webcam's normal functionality. Check the settings of the software or application you're using and disable any special effects or filters that are enabled.
- Scan for Malware: Run a comprehensive scan of your laptop using reliable antivirus software to check for any malware that might be affecting your webcam's performance. Malware can sometimes hijack webcam functionality or cause strange behavior.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
