HP Envy dv7 7237cl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Last evening a narrow rectangular blinking box that nearly spans the screen started. It s either black or multicolored. Have checked for updates for graphics.

Welcome to the HP Forums. I would be happy to help you with your HP ENVY dv7-7233nr Notebook PC. I understand that you are getting display issue and you have already done some preliminary troubleshooting.

Don't worry though as I have a few steps to determine the issue and find a solution as well,

Boot the computer into bios and check if the issue persists.

  1. Turn on or restart the computer.

  2. While the display is blank, press the f10 key to enter the BIOS settings menu.

  3. If the issue persists, that must be a hardware issue and request you to contact HP Phone Support for further assistance on this.

If that does not appear on the bios screen follow the bellow steps.

Update the bios and the drivers on the computer.

Click here and refer the document to update the bios.

Install and run HP Support Assistance to keep all the drivers updated.

Click here to download and refer the document to know how to use the software.

Let me know how it goes.

Cheers.
