Hey
I have a HP elitebook 840 g5 with thunderbolt 3 from work. I have tried to connect it to my lenovo thunderbolt 3 dock gen 2 at home, my privet pc is a lenovo t580. At first my hp laptop wouldn't cornnect to it, it wasn't charging or seing any of the device connected to the dock. I installed the lenovo tb3 dock gen2 drivers and now my hp is charging and the inputs works. Except my display. I not get any display though. My display just says "no signal". Why is that? How can i fix it?
I have also tried to connect my lenovo to the hp thunderbolt dock at work, and it just work. No driver or nothing, just plug and play. Why isn't it the same with my HP?

All I know is your HP machine is NOT compatible with your Lenovo dock. Please do NOT cross accessories between vendors. They use THEIR way.
I know for sure HP 840 G5 is compatible with HP USB-C G5 dock 100% with single cable connection. I'm using them right now.
Regards.

But that doesn't make sense. The idea behind thunderbolt is to be universal. Does this also mean that I can't use my HP with caldigit dock for example? Or with a benq monitor with thunderbolt?
Btw I have solve the issue together with Lenovos support. Thier dock uses the standard thunderbolt driver from intel, specifically for cross compatiblety. The driver on their website (which is installed) is only for USB and audio. To get the display tunnaling to work with their dock you have to install the standard Intel driver of Intels website.
