Hi @Jervey,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your monitor has a 3-inch black stripe on the left side and isn’t showing full screen. Let’s go through a few steps to check what could be causing this.

Check display resolution
Right-click on your desktop, select Display settings, and make sure the resolution matches your monitor’s native resolution. Incorrect resolution often leaves black bars on the screen.

Adjust scaling settings
In Display settings, check Scale and layout. Make sure it’s set to 100% (recommended) or the value suggested for your monitor.

Check graphics driver settings
Open your Intel, NVIDIA, or AMD graphics control panel:

Look for Display or Screen Scaling options.

Set scaling to Full screen or Maintain Display Scaling depending on the options.

Update or reinstall graphics drivers
Outdated drivers can prevent the display from filling the screen. Use HP Support Assistant or your GPU manufacturer’s website to update the driver.

Check monitor settings
If your monitor has built-in buttons, check the Aspect Ratio / Screen Fit or Auto Adjust option. Some monitors need manual adjustment to remove black bars.

Test with another cable or port
Sometimes black bars appear due to a faulty HDMI/DisplayPort cable or port. Try a different cable or use a different output on your laptop/PC.

I hope this helps.
