HP Pavilion - 15-cs3023ca
Microsoft Windows 11

On an HP Pavillon 15-cs-3023 I am no longer able to adjust the brightness intensity. The BIOS is up to date, as are the graphics card drivers. It used to work fine (with the Fn-F2 and Fn-F3 keys).

Any idea?

TIA

Hi @eTrader,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be happy to help you!

I understand that you are having issues with the problem adjusting the brightness intensity.

This could be either the display going bad or the compatibility issues with the current OS.

If you do find any drivers for Windows 11, try with Windows 10 and see if that helps. Click here

If you're unable to adjust the brightness on your HP Pavilion 15-cs-3023 despite having an up-to-date BIOS and graphics drivers, there are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

1. Check Windows Settings

  • Adjust Brightness in Settings:
    1. Go to Settings > System > Display.
    2. Look for the Brightness and color section and try adjusting the brightness slider.

2. Function Key Settings

  • Ensure Fn Lock is Disabled:
    • Some laptops have an Fn lock feature that can disable the function keys. Check if there is an Fn lock key (often found on the Esc or Shift key) and toggle it.

3. Reinstall Graphics Drivers

  • Reinstall Graphics Drivers:
    1. Open Device Manager.
    2. Expand the Display adapters section.
    3. Right-click on your graphics adapter and select Uninstall device.
    4. Restart your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the default graphics drivers. Alternatively, you can download the latest drivers from the HP or the graphics card manufacturer's website.

4. Update or Reinstall the Monitor Driver

Update Monitor Drivers:

  1. Open Device Manager.
  2. Expand the Monitors section.
  3. Right-click on your monitor and select Update driver.
  4. Select Search automatically for updated driver software.

Reinstall Monitor Drivers:

  1. In Device Manager, right-click on your monitor and select Uninstall device.
  2. Restart your laptop to let Windows reinstall the driver.

Kindly find the next set of steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.
