Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fa0000 (599K0AV)

Dear HP Support,

I’m experiencing a persistent issue with my HP Victus 15 (RTX 3050). The problem occurs when launching any game or GPU-intensive application:

As soon as I launch a game using the dedicated RTX 3050 GPU, the entire system freezes or crashes.

When using the integrated GPU, games run without any freezing or crashing.

I have already tried reinstalling GPU drivers (using DDU), updating BIOS, reinstalling Windows, and testing temperatures and power settings. All temperatures remain normal, and the issue persists regardless of driver version or system load.

It seems like the problem may be related to the GPU itself or its communication with the system.

Please advise on possible hardware diagnostics or repair options.

Thank you.

@majdygh, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It sounds like you're dealing with a frustrating issue! Since you've already done a good amount of troubleshooting (reinstalling drivers, updating BIOS, reinstalling Windows, and checking temperatures), it seems like the issue might indeed be related to the RTX 3050 GPU or its interaction with the system.

Here are a few steps you can take to further diagnose or resolve the issue:

Perform a GPU Stress Test

Run a stress test to see if the issue happens during sustained GPU load. This could help confirm if the GPU is failing under load or if the issue is with power delivery, heat, or throttling.

You may use the HP Hardware diagnostic tool: HP PC Hardware Diagnostics | HP® Support

If the system crashes during the test, it could be a sign of faulty hardware (e.g., a bad GPU, poor connection, or power supply issues).

Run the HP Hardware Diagnostics Tool

HP laptops come with built-in diagnostics that can help identify hardware issues. You can run the test by:

Power off your laptop.

Turn it on and immediately press F2 (or the specific key for diagnostics on your laptop).

Follow the on-screen instructions to run a full hardware diagnostic.

This will help you check for potential GPU or power issues.

Re-seat the GPU

If you're comfortable disassembling the laptop (or have a professional do it), you could try reseating the GPU to make sure it’s properly connected. A loose connection could cause intermittent failures, especially under load.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
