HP DV7 4263cl
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have the HP DV7 4263cl with switchable graphics AMD chipset M880G with both Mobility Radeon HD 4250  and AMD 6370m. My processor is the AMD Phenom II.  The drivers on HP's support site for my laptop are very old (2010) and work fine in Windows 7. However when I try to install the drivers in compatability mode on in Windows 8.1 or 10 or manually install them through the device manager, my computer does not respond well and doesnt install everything fully and either shuts down or shows a blue error screen.

I have tried everything and haven't had any luck getting these installed.

Please Help!!!!

Yours is the third post I've seen about switchable graphics not working in Windows 10. Sadly, you may have to simply hope for a Windows 10 driver update. Have you checked for a Chipset or BIOS/UEFI update? Maybe you would have better luck on the AMD forum.

Lots of people are having this problem, including myself, with switchable graphics not working in Windows 10.  An additional spinoff problem is the HDMI output not working as well.

You can compare your workaround to my own (see my own post).  But in the end I ended up reverting back to Windows 7.  Just be careful if you mess around in the device manager with display adapters.  Some of us caused our Windows 10 to get stuck in a lethal boot loop that wouldn't even allow safemode.  Make sure you have a Windows 10 installation image or you might have to reinstall Windows 7 from scratch.

This issue is being discussed more in depth on this thread: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Display-and-Video/hdmi-not-working-after-upgrade-to-windows-10...

Another problem and solution:  For my dv7 Notebook, with SSD, my bootup went from 7 seconds to 2 minutes when I upgraded to Win 10 Pro.  I found the problem is the AMD Driver and the newest AMD driver did not help.  Reinstalling Windows 10 did not help.  I have two graphics adapters in my dv7 Notebook, the AMD HD 6700M and an Intel grapics adapter, HD Graphics 3000.  Solution:  I diabled the AMD driver in Device Manager and bootup returned to 7 seconds.  Intel graphics aren't the greatest but it works for business letters (WORD) and Photoshop.  And I got my 7 second bootup back.  From what I read at AMD, there is not going to be a software solution to this problem.  Mine is a workaround.  AMD said the HD 5 6 and 7 Series are now considered Legacy products and will no longer be supported.  They call the latest driver a Beta, and they say there will be no more drivers issued for this Series.  Hope that helps.

You can keep your AMD 6700m and also have a fast boot by simply disable  ULPS from regedit.Run regedit then edit ,find type EnableUlps right click on it ,modify and change value data from 1 to 0.
