Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

so, after loading windows, the screen goes black, and the leds on the base of the screen make repeated flashes for a few seconds, then all goes black and dead (but the pc is running, and I can even hear cortana).

functions I can do and see:

-access the bios

-access the recovery of windows

-reinstall windows as a clean os.

- all this functions using the screen, which doesn't show any troubles or failures.

things I can't do

- start windows in safe mode or any other specific mode.

- update bios (somehow, the UEFI screen shown in the support pages is not shown, I see the dos format black screen with white letters, and no bios update option.

- plug the laptop to a external screen via HDMI. no matter what, if I plug an external monitor or tv via hdmi, the screen doesnt connect, not in bios/load screen or windows. the screen shows the "no signal" logo.

tried to reinstall windows many times, with different options (even the hardest one with a secured erase "to be sold").

any ideas?

tried to update the bios, unsuccesfully, but I don't think it's a bios trouble. some friend told me it could be drivers failure?.

btw, the pc workerd perfect till one day that while booting this trouble started and never showed the windows screen.

any ideas or suggestions?

I ave gone through your Post and I would like to help

May I know how are you reinstalling the Windows?

Do you have the HP Recovery Media? The HP Cloud Recovery Tool allows you to download recovery software to a USB drive. You can use the downloaded recovery image file in order to install Windows operating system. Click here: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c06162205 to Use the HP Cloud Recovery Tool (Windows 10, 7)

Click here: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04758961#AbT3 to perform a System Recovery (Windows 10)

Also try disabling secure Boot and enabling Legacy Boot when you reinstall Windows. Please refer to this Link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04784866

Keep me posted how it goes

Try to reset the bios the way you need then clean install Windows legacy or uefi you set

I did reset the bios to factory default settings and reinstalled windows as a clean installation. the screen failure is ONLY after the HP logo during windows boot (I think at the moment the windows loads the drivers, and the setup for language/location/user begins.

I can hear cortana giving suggestions.

I can't plug it to a HDMI external screen, and I can't update the bios (i didnt find the way to do it).

dear KrazyToad,

many thanks for all your support.

(due to low connectivity as I work in a small town, with very low internet connection) the download of all the data was very slow, so I let it overnight, but today in less than 2 hours I completed the installation, and was quite straightforward.

best regards
