Hi! @memobe, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!

I understand screen on your laptop broke and you need to know how to connect to a TV using HDMI connection.

Don't worry I'll try to help you out.

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your PC?

Try few steps recommended below to know how to connect a TV from laptop using HDMI connection.

Turn your laptop and TV on.
Connect your HDMI lead to both your TV and laptop (any order).
Select the correct HDMI input on your TV (usually by pressing the AV button).
If your laptop does not automatically output its screen to the TV, go to Control Panel > Display > Adjust Resolution and select the TV in the Display drop down box.

1.Right-click the Volume icon (white speaker) on the taskbar.
Sound Button.gif
2.Click Playback Devices….this opens the Sound window.
3.On the Playback tab, click Digital Output Device (HDMI) if it is present. If it is not present, click Realtek HDMI Output.
4.Click Set Default.
5.Click Apply.
6.Do one of the following:
If you used Digital Output Device (HDMI), click OK to close the window. This completes the steps to activate HDMI sound for this option.
If you used Realtek HDMI Output, continue with step 7.
7.Double-click Realtek HDMI Output.
8.The Properties window opens.
9.Click the Supported Formats tab. Place a check in the 48.0 KHz check box, and ensure that there is no check in the Dolby Digital check box and all other check boxes.
For most displays to play back audio, the sample rate must be 48.0 KHz.
10.Click OK to apply the changes and close the window.

Hi @memobe,

I am the The_Fossette. It looks like you were interacting with @MrRobot, but he is out of the office today so I'll take over from here.

I recommend you to connect the laptop to your TV and then press the windows key + P key until you see the display on your TV.

NOTE: Make sure that the TV is set on the right HDMI as most of the TV's will have more than 1 HDMI port.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.

Take care.

Cheers!
