Troubleshooting black screen issues on HP Notebooks: Click here to view the instructions!
HP Recommended

Hi. I have a HP Victus 15-fa1042nt laptop with Win11. The colors change every time the window on the screen changes. When I switch to explorer from a game or to a picture from explorer and so on. It is very annoying because sometimes the colors in the game do not match the original colors. It should be dark green, but it is something like a very shiny (glossy) green. All drivers and Windows are up-to-date and there is no hardware problems. If I haven't paid for it, I would already have thrown it away. Thank you.

@Mulugol, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It sounds like you're facing color shifting issues on your HP Victus 15 laptop. Let’s walk through some troubleshooting steps to help resolve it.

  1. Check Color Settings in Windows: Go to Settings > System > Display. In Advanced display settings, ensure your display’s refresh rate is correct. Also, check the Color Profile in Color Management and make sure it’s set to the right one for your screen.
  2. Reinstall Graphics Drivers: Go to Device Manager, right-click your graphics card under Display Adapters, and select Uninstall Device. Restart your laptop to reinstall drivers automatically.
  3. Windows 11 has a display calibration tool. Go to Settings > System > Display and look for Display Calibration or search for Color Calibration.
  4. Adjust the ICC Profile: Go to Control Panel > Color Management > Advanced tab. Make sure the correct ICC profile is selected for your display. Try using sRGB if unsure.
  5. Test on External Display: If possible, connect your laptop to an external monitor. This helps determine if the issue is with the laptop display or the system settings.
  6. In Device Manager, expand Monitors, right-click your display, and select Update Driver. This may resolve any display-related issues.
  7. Reset Display Settings to Default: You can reset your display settings to default in Settings > System > Display. This will reset color, resolution, and scaling settings.
  8. If the issue appeared after an update or software change, try a system restore to a point when everything was working. Go to Control Panel > Recovery > Open System Restore.

I hope these steps help resolve the issue

I did what you have told one by one. When I switch to a game after a fullscreen picture, I can see the green color changing from light to dark and it really annoys me. I think it changes profiles between pictures and other software (like games). How can I make it constant? I think it detects the thing on the screen and changes color profile(?) on its own mind. I don't want it to change profiles (or whatever it changes) between applications.

Hey, thank you for your response.

It sounds like your screen is automatically switching color profiles based on the content or application you're using, which can definitely be annoying, especially when it shifts between light and dark tones in games. This is typically caused by a feature called color profile switching/

Here’s how you can try to make the color profile constant across all applications:

Disable Automatic Color Profile Switching

For Windows:

  • Go to Settings > System > Display > Advanced Display Settings.
  • Under Color Management, make sure you're not using automatic color profiles.
  • You can set your preferred color profile here (usually sRGB or another calibrated one).

For NVIDIA Graphics Card:

  • Open the NVIDIA Control Panel.
  • Under Display, select Adjust desktop color settings.
  • Look for the option that allows you to choose a fixed color profile and set it to sRGB or the profile you prefer.
  • Make sure Digital Vibrance and other dynamic settings are disabled, as they can alter colors dynamically in games.
  • Reference: To adjust the contrast on your desktop

Disable "Night Light" or Other Adjustments

  • Go to Settings > System > Display, and under Night Light Settings, make sure it’s turned off or set to turn off automatically during the day.

If none of the above helps, you could try calibrating the display: HP Notebook PCs - Color variation on multiple screens | HP® Support

I’m pretty confident this will do the trick! But hey, if you run into any bumps along the way or need a little extra help, just give me a shout! I’ve got your back. 💪
