Was check for number of pins which connect to cracked screen.  Notebook was powered off but i forgot to unplug the power and battery.  Was using  a metal caliber to measure the number of pins on the connector from computer when I accidently touched one of the pins and got a good size spark (might have touched the ground). Before this  the screen lite up with hortizonal lines but now is black. Can hear the computer start.  What can I do to solve this issue?  Would I have fried the AMD Radeon 5 graphics/video board, mother board, or the entire computer?

Where can I find parts list or parts for this model?

@ron82,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

I recommend you connect the computer to an external monitor or a TV and check whether you are getting any display on the monitor.

If you are getting display on the external screen then the issue is with the display on the computer or else it may be the motherboard or the graphics card.

Please let me know the product number for your computer and I will send you the service guide for your computer.

Alternately, you can contact support and they will assist you with the available service options for your computer.

Here is how you can get in touch with tech support.

1)Click on this link – www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

Thanks for your reply and offer to send the service manual.   The product number is X3H15UA#ABA. Product  name is HP notebook-15-ba037cl.  I know the screen is toast, but how can I check the other components to see which is bad (video graphics care, motherboard, or something else?   Appreciate your input.

I hooked the computer up to my tv by himi. Computer seems to work fine.  So, if I replace the laptop screen, everything should work?
