my laptop screen gets ultra dimmed when i connect my charger so much that i cant see anything and have to use a flash or hdmi

Try these steps:

Check Power Settings:

  • Windows Power Options:
    • Right-click the battery icon in the taskbar and select Power Options.
    • Click on Change plan settings next to your active power plan.
    • Click Change advanced power settings.
    • Expand the Display section and then Dim display after. Ensure the settings are appropriate for both On battery and Plugged in.

Adjust Brightness Settings:

  • Windows Settings:
    • Press Windows key + I to open Settings.
    • Go to System > Display.
    • Ensure the brightness slider is appropriately set.

Update Graphics Drivers:

  • Using HP Support Assistant:
    • Download and install HP Support Assistant from HP Support.
    • Open the HP Support Assistant and check for updates.
  • Manual Update:
    • Visit the HP Support website and enter your model number (16-xf0000).
    • Download and install the latest graphics drivers available for your model.

Check BIOS Settings:

  • Accessing BIOS:
    • Restart your laptop and press ESC repeatedly to enter the Startup Menu.
    • Press F10 to enter BIOS Setup.
    • Check for any power management settings related to brightness or display.

BIOS Update:

  • Updating BIOS:
    • Visit the HP Support website: HP Support.
    • Enter your model number and look for the latest BIOS update.
    • Download and apply the update following the provided instructions.
