Hello !
I bought a new HP Victus 15 laptop recently. It is working well as usual at all. Unfortunately, I have detected a small problem with it that my laptop get freeze for 2 to 3 second. At first, I thought it was because of a hard video game, but I experience this problem even while watching videos on YouTube which does not consume much performance. The freezing does not happen because of internet speed. When this problem happen the whole system freezes even the mouse cursor. I have reinstalled the CPU and GPU drivers, but they did not help. The freezing (or lagging) happens once in 30 to 60 minutes. I have install the window for so many time by using hp cloud recovery tool but my problem does not get solve.
even I changed the ssd
my laptop configuration is:
cpu :amd ryzen 5 7535hs
gpu : nvidia rtx 2050
ram : 16gb ddr5 4800 mhz
512 gb ssd

Hi @gksumit,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thanks for the detailed info—this issue with your HP Victus 15, freezing for a few seconds, is unfortunately not uncommon. Here’s a targeted troubleshooting plan to help resolve it:
1. Update BIOS and Firmware
HP has released BIOS updates that address freezing and thermal issues.
- Go to HP Support.
- Enter your model: HP Victus 15-fa0xxx (or exact model).
- Download and install the latest BIOS and firmware updates.
2. Disable Hardware-Accelerated GPU Scheduling
This setting can cause micro-freezes on some AMD/NVIDIA combos.
- Go to Settings > System > Display > Graphics > Change default graphics settings.
- Turn off Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling.
- Restart your laptop.
3. Adjust Power Plan Settings
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options.
- Select High Performance or AMD Ryzen Balanced.
- Click Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings.
- Under Processor power management, set:
- Minimum processor state: 5%
- Maximum processor state: 99% (this can help reduce thermal spikes)
4. Check for Thermal Throttling
Your CPU may be spiking to 100°C, causing momentary freezes
- Download HWMonitor or CoreTemp.
- Monitor CPU temps during normal use.
- If temperatures exceed 90–95°C, consider:
- Using a cooling pad.
- Undervolting (if supported).
Cleaning vents or repasting (if you're comfortable opening the laptop).
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
