This is a Spectre x360 convertible 2in 1. model 13ac023dx running windows 10. My screen rotation and tablet mode work fine for the convertible functionality. The problem is that it rotates when NOT in tablet mode. I often need to turn my laptop to view a photo that is presented in software that has no image rotation feature. Currently, I have to save it and open in a viewer with image rotate. I had assumed a convertible would not rotate the screen when not in tent or tablet config. Is this correct default behavior or is this something I can fix?
It seems to be going into tablet mode when I turn the laptop 90 degrees, as I've found it disables the keyboard as well as rotating the screen. Maybe this convertible relies solely on the accelerometers to determine tablet mode, not having a way to sense how far the screen has been rotated on its axis.

Welcome to the HP Support Community!
I reviewed your post and I understand that you are facing issues with the tablet mode on the computer.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
I recommend you update the BIOS and the graphics driver from the below link and check if it helps.

If you continue facing the issue, then follow the below steps.
- Open Settings App and go to System > Display.
- Find Orientation and choose Portrait from the menu.
- Your device should automatically switch to portrait mode.
Also, if Rotation Lock is grayed out, you might want to try disconnecting your keyboard. Check if this resolves the issue.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
If you wish to show appreciation for my efforts, mark my post as Accept as Solution. Your feedback counts!
Cheers!
