Hey there! @lourdes2, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!
I understand you have display issues with your PC.
Don't worry I'll try to help you out.
Did you make any hardware or software changes on your PC?
Does the issue persist in BIOS?
Please provide the product number of your PC to assist you better.
As you mentioned the display turns off when you touch the laptop screen.
Try updating the graphics driver and BIOS on your PC using HP support assistant and check if it helps.
Refer this article to know more information about using HP support assistant.
Please try few steps recommended below.
The issue you are experiencing might be due to the power plan settings set up on your device. To help resolve your concern, you can consider modifying your laptop's power plan settings by following the steps below:
On the Start menu, type Power & sleep settings.
Under Related settings, select Additional power settings.
Under your preferred plans, select Change plan settings.
Under Turn off the display settings, select Never from the drop-down list.
Choose the Change advanced power settings option.
Expand Display. Under Turn off display after, select Never.
Click Apply and then hit OK.
Restart your computer to apply the changes made.
Go into Device Manager - Select Universal Serial Bus Controllers - Select Generic USB Hub Properties -( Under POWER tab: the one that has "HID-compliant Device 100mA" attached) Power Management - UNCHECK-"Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
If you have problems or not sure if it the correct HID-compliant Device, just look under the Driver Details and hit the drop down box to scroll through all those different labels until it clearly says "Touchscreen" under "Bus Reported Device Description"
In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
Expand the Human Interface Devices heading.
The touchscreen device is labeled HID-compliant touch screen, or similar. Right-click the touchscreen device.
If the option to enable the device is included in the menu, click Enable.
Reinstall the original touchscreen device driver that came installed on your computer using the following steps:
In Windows, search for and open Device Manager.
Expand the Human Interface Devices heading.
The touchscreen device is labeled HID-compliant touch screen, or similar. Right-click the touchscreen device and select Uninstall.
Confirm the uninstallation.
Restart the computer to reinstall the touchscreen driver.
Also, I suggest you update the Display driver from the Device Manager and check if this helps.
Follow the below steps:
1. Press Windows key + X and click on Device Manager.
2. Expand Display Adaptor.
3. Right click on the video driver and select Update Driver Software. Once this is done, restart the computer and check if the issue persists.
