Hi,
I have an envy laptop (15-u050ca) and Im trying to setup dual monitors.
so basically, there would technically be 3 monitors. laptop + 2 hp-compaq la2205wg monitors.
what Ive done so far with nosuccess:
-bought an iogear docking station https://www.iogear.com/product/GUD300/ and connected the monitors to it.
-1 monitor goes to the hdmi to display port (not recognized by laptop)
-1 monitor goes to dvi to vga (that 1 works and is fine, so I have laptop monitor + this 1)
I need both monitors to be split and if possible even all 3.
can this laptop do that? if so, how, what am i not doing
thanks

Solved:
the hdmi to display port cable that the store sold me was actually reading the signal in reverse (so they sold me a display port to hdmi) so it sends the signal from monitor (which achieves nothing in my case)
so went and bought a hdmi TO dvi cable, and voilà ... worked like a charm.
note to self... there are cables that send signals 1 way, and cables that send signal both
thanks all

That web-page states:
Multitask
Add 2 external displays to your workstation for a total of three screens! With dual monitor outputs you can edit video on one screen, compose the soundtrack on another screen, plus monitor email on your laptop screen all at the same time!

What does that manufacturer recommend?
If you connect a different, high-end, computer to this device, does it "drive" both external monitors?

Hi,
I just plugged in a new (dell) laptop and its the same thing. no signal is reacing the same monitor.
but I know the monitor works, because if i switch it around, it powers up and displays.
windows (on either the dell or hp) doesnt see the monitor with the hdmi to display port.

From: HP ENVY 15-u050ca x360 Convertible PC Product Specifications
External Ports:
- Multi-format digital media card reader for Secure Digital cards
- two SuperSpeed USB 3.0
- one Universal Serial Bus (USB) 2.0
- one HDMI
- one RJ-45 (LAN)
- one Headphone-out/microphone-in combo jack
So, what happens when you connect one monitor directly to that HDMI port, and the other monitor to your IOGEAR docking station?
