@Rugratti, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your laptop's screen freezing!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like there might be a display driver issue or some software conflicts causing this. Here’s a few things you can try:

Restart Your Laptop – I know it sounds basic, but a simple restart can help clear up temporary glitches.

Update Display Drivers – Outdated or faulty drivers can cause display issues. Here’s how to update them:

  • Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
  • Expand Display adapters.
  • Right-click your graphics driver and select Update driverSearch automatically for drivers.

Adjust Display Settings – Sometimes incorrect resolution or refresh rate settings can cause overlap issues:

  • Right-click on the desktop and select Display settings.
  • Make sure the resolution is set to the recommended value.
  • Try changing the refresh rate under Advanced display settings.

Check for Windows Updates – Missing updates can lead to compatibility issues:

  • Go to SettingsUpdate & SecurityCheck for updates.

Run HP Support Assistant – This tool can automatically detect and fix common display issues:

  • Open HP Support Assistant from the Start menu.
  • Go to My devicesTroubleshooting and fixesDisplay and sound issues.

If the issue persists after trying these steps, let me know — we can dig deeper and figure out the next steps together.

Looking forward to hearing back from you!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
