I grasp you are having a difficulty installing the Intel graphic driver.  I also see you are running Windows 7 32 bit.

You did tell me you have a Pavilion 15 laptop, however HP manufactures many Pavilion 15's.  To assist you better I will need to know your exact model. How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?

Was there any recent changes to your system?

Have you tried running the HP Support Assistant to help with updates and resolving issues.

Is the a Bios update for your notebook? If so I suggest contacting HP support as Bios updates do have the potential to cause damage. Updating the BIOS

Hi ,

welcome to HP support forums

this happens when you install the wrong driver

i will give you a small example

> you have a laptop with Hybrid graphics which means that there is 2 GPUs in the laptop

> your friend has a laptop with intel graphics only

> both of you need the driver

> on HP drivers website you will see  driver available

> you need to get drivers for the 2 GPUs and this is the point the intel driver on HP website is for the laptos with Intel Graphics only

> you should download the AMD driver only and it will work with both GPUs

> you frind should download the Intel driver only

*** this is the point

I grasp that you have lost the on screen brightness control  and the ability to change it.  The bios screen is clear but when you boot into Windows the screen becomes almost unreadable.  This occurred after a Windows update.

You have tried installing the driver and received the message that it your "laptop did not meet the minimum requirement".

You tried doing a restore to overcome this issue but it  was unsuccessful.

Have you tried uninstalling the latest Windows update? See which Windows updates are installed

Have you checked for viruses and malware?

This is the correct driver for your notebook running Windows 7 64 bit.  sp54470.exe

You could also try installing the driver while in safe mode.  Advanced startup options (including safe mode)

Here is a link to Troubleshooting display brightness (Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows Vista)

If you are still having an issue, as you have already tried a restore I would suggest a recovery back to factory.

Performing an HP system recovery (Windows 7)

During the recovery process you will receive an option to backup your personal files to prevent data loss.  If you have not done one recently, I suggest you do one now.

Restoring Files that were Backed Up Using HP Recovery Manager (Windows 7)

You may also consider contacting HP support for assistance. They can remotely log onto your system to try and locate and resolve issues.

Please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside of the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region. Phone Assist Worldwide

I hope this helps.
