HI @envy3023,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your touch screen and touchpad aren't working, here are some steps to help troubleshoot the issue:
Troubleshooting Steps
Restart Your Device:
- A simple restart can often resolve many issues. Make sure to fully shut down your device and then power it back on.
Check for Physical Switches:
- Some laptops have a physical switch or function key (like F1, F2, etc.) that disables the touchpad. Look for an icon that resembles a touchpad or touchscreen and make sure it's enabled.
Update Drivers:
- Go to Device Manager:
- Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Expand Mice and other pointing devices and Human Interface Devices.
- Right-click on your touchpad and touch screen entries, then select Update driver.
- You can also check the manufacturer’s website for the latest drivers.
Check Touchpad Settings:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad and ensure the touchpad is enabled.
Run the Hardware Troubleshooter:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters. Look for hardware troubleshooter options.
Check Windows Updates:
- Make sure your Windows is fully updated. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
Reset Touch Screen Calibration:
- Open the Control Panel and search for Tablet PC Settings. Under the Display tab, click on Calibrate and follow the prompts.
Safe Mode:
- Boot your device into Safe Mode to see if the touch screen and touchpad work there. If they do, a third-party application or setting may be causing the issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
