@ART38, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding yellow warning on Elan Driver and non-working keyboard and touchpad!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

When the keyboard and touchpad of an HP Notebook are not working and the Elan driver shows a yellow warning sign, you can follow these steps to troubleshoot and fix the issue:

1. Update BIOS and Drivers

Updating BIOS can sometimes resolve hardware compatibility issues, and updating the Elan driver can resolve the driver warning:

  1. Download BIOS Update: Visit the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page and download the latest BIOS version for your notebook.
  2. Download Elan Touchpad Driver: Visit the HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads page and download the latest Elan touchpad driver for your notebook.

2. Perform a Hard Reset

A hard reset can sometimes resolve hardware issues:

  1. Turn off the computer.
  2. Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station.
  3. Disconnect all external connected peripheral devices such as USB storage devices, external displays, and printers.
  4. Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.
  5. Disconnect the battery.
  6. Press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds to drain residual power.
  7. Reconnect the battery and plug the AC adapter back into the computer.
  8. Press the power button to turn on the computer.
  9. Run Windows Update and HP Support Assistant to update all device drivers.

3. Clear CMOS (if applicable)

Some hardware issues can be resolved by clearing the CMOS:

  1. Remove the CMOS battery for a few minutes, then reinsert it.
  2. Make sure to remove both the main battery and the AC adapter before doing this if applicable.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
