Hi @rajeev75,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the touchpad on your HP Pavilion g4 is not working, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.
Check if the Touchpad is Disabled:
- Look for a function key (often F7 or an icon of a touchpad) on your keyboard. Press Fn + the function key to toggle the touchpad on/off.
- You may also find a physical switch on the laptop's body to enable/disable the touchpad.
Restart Your Laptop:
- A simple restart can sometimes resolve minor software glitches.
Check Touchpad Settings:
- Go to Settings > Devices > Touchpad.
- Ensure that the touchpad is enabled in the settings.
Update Touchpad Drivers:
- Press Windows + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand the Mice and other pointing devices section.
- Right-click on your touchpad device and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
Reinstall Touchpad Drivers:
- In Device Manager, right-click on your touchpad device and select Uninstall device. Restart your laptop, and Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.
Check for Windows Updates:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
Run the HP Hardware Diagnostics:
- Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly while it is booting up.
- Press F2 to open the HP Hardware Diagnostics tool and run the tests for the touchpad.
Check for External Devices:
- Disconnect any external mice or devices to see if that resolves the issue.
Restore System Settings:
- If the issue started after a recent change, consider using System Restore to revert to a previous state.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
