I tired in HP diagnostic hitting esc during boot up and touch pad does not work correctly there either. HP does not have version 23H2 listed when trying to search for my PC

Hi @stephen_8675,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Touchpad Issues on HP Envy 17t (Model 537z6av)!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Update Drivers:

  • Check HP's support website for any newly released drivers compatible with your laptop model. While 23H2 might not be specifically listed, drivers for earlier versions may still be compatible.
  • To update drivers manually:
    • Go to the HP Customer Support website, enter your product details, and download and install the latest available touchpad driver.
    • Check the Synaptics or Precision Touchpad driver in "Device Manager" under "Mouse and other pointing devices."

Roll Back Windows Update:

  • If the problem persists and began after the Windows update, consider rolling back to the previous version of Windows.
    • Navigate to "Settings" > "Update & Security" > "Recovery" > "Go back to the previous version of Windows 11."

Touchpad Settings:

  • Ensure all settings are appropriately configured:
    • Go to "Settings" > "Devices" > "Touchpad" and adjust sensitivity and gesture settings.

HP Diagnostics and Recovery:

  • Since you tried accessing the HP diagnostic tool and the touchpad didn't function correctly, it might indicate a hardware issue.
  • Perform a hard reset:
    • Shut down your laptop, disconnect all external devices, and unplug the charger.
    • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
    • Boot up your laptop and check the touchpad functionality.

Windows Troubleshooter:

  • Use the built-in troubleshooter to detect and resolve any system-related problems:
    • Go to "Settings" > "Update & Security" > "Troubleshoot" > "Additional troubleshooters."
    • Select "Hardware and Devices" and follow the prompts.

Check BIOS Settings:

  • Ensure touchpad settings are enabled in BIOS:
    • Boot into BIOS by pressing F10 during startup. Navigate to Advanced or Device Configuration, and verify touchpad settings.

I hope this helps.
