It may be just as simple as one of your friends rotated it for you 

CTRL+ALT+Up Arrow and your Windows desktop

It is very difficult to change the display otherwise on a laptop.   Rotating a 3x4 CRT display requires a 90 degree rotation of the yoke, Adjusting the frequency of the flyback transformer and then adjusting the driver to match the new geometry and timing.
