hello
I've been using my laptop for years now and often use the touchscreen but I noticed recently that the touchscreen is not responding anymore it happened suddenly and out of nowhere.
I've tried to reinstall the HID-Compliant touch screen driver I found it disabled in the hidden drivers i could not enable it and after I uninstalled it, it did not re-install after the scan
I've tried to see the BIOS I could not find any input or touch setting
I've tried HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI tests but I couldn't find any component related to touch screen
I could not find Calibrate the screen for pen and touch input in my windows
when I checked in settings in the Pen and Touchsection it reads "no pen or touch input is available for this display" which is odd cuz i have been using it for years now
can someone help me solve this issue?
thanks in advance
note: i updated my pc to Windows 11 around 2 years ago so I do think it caused the problem

Hi @bat1999,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds frustrating to have your touchscreen suddenly stop working, especially after years of use. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue.
Check for Windows Updates: Ensure your system is fully updated. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and check for updates.
Run Hardware Troubleshooter:
- Open Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
- Look for the Hardware and Devices troubleshooter and run it.
Reinstall the Touchscreen Driver:
- Open Device Manager (right-click the Start button and select it).
- Expand Human Interface Devices.
- If you see HID-compliant touch screen, right-click and select Uninstall device.
- After uninstalling, restart your laptop. Windows should automatically reinstall the driver.
Check Touchscreen in BIOS:
- Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS/UEFI setup (usually by pressing F10 or Esc during startup).
- Look for any touchscreen-related settings (though they may not be explicitly labeled). If you find one, ensure it's enabled.
System Restore: If the touchscreen stopped working after a specific update or change, you might consider restoring your system to a previous state. Go to Control Panel > Recovery > Open System Restore and choose a restore point before the issue began.
Reset Windows: If all else fails, you can consider resetting Windows. Make sure to back up your files first:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery and choose Get started under Reset this PC.
Hopefully, one of these steps will help you get your touchscreen back up and running!
Take care and have a good day.
