hi - i have a HP 15.6 inch laptop PC 15-fd0000 (product 81U94UA) and it's connected to HP G5 dock (product 5TW10AA) via a USB-c cable. the laptop does not charge when connected to the dock and the laptop cannot detect the 2 HP monitors (Elite Display E221) that are connected to the dock. however, the laptop does connect to the internet by ethernet when connected to the dock so that works.
is it possible that this dock is not compatible with my laptop? the funny thing is i have a Lenovo laptop and it connects perfectly with the dock and the display works with the 2 additional monitors. the Lenovo laptop is relatively new. strange that the Lenovo connects to the HP dock but the HP laptop does not.
any advice would be appreciated

Short answer: They are NOT compatible. Your machine should have the following specs
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_7737544-7737589-16
It ONLY has 1 hopeless USB 3.2 Gen 1.0 Type-C port; SuperSpeed 5 Gbps signaling rate (data transfer only charging or external monitors not supported) port which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to
- Charge your machine,
- Connect to an external monitor with/without hub/dock/adapter (some hubs may have builtin chip to support this)
If you wish to connect 2 external monitors (only-total 3), you can use
- Monitor 1: HDMI direct cable,
- Monitor 2: Using a Displaylink Certified USB-A to HDMI adapter such as
