Hi @iqrashahid,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be happy to help you!
When the display settings are missing in the NVIDIA Control Panel on your HP VICTUS 15 laptop with an RTX 2050, it can be quite frustrating, especially if you need to configure settings for professional software like Adobe Suite. Here’s a guide to troubleshoot and resolve this issue:
1. Ensure the Correct GPU is Being Used
- Integrated vs. Dedicated GPU: Sometimes, the laptop might be using the integrated GPU (usually Intel) instead of the dedicated NVIDIA GPU. Ensure that the NVIDIA GPU is set as the default for all graphics tasks.
- To do this:
- Open NVIDIA Control Panel.
- Go to Manage 3D Settings > Global Settings.
- Under Preferred Graphics Processor, select High-performance NVIDIA processor.
2. Check for Display Connections
- The display settings in the NVIDIA Control Panel typically only appear if a display is connected to the NVIDIA GPU. If the laptop's built-in display is connected to the integrated GPU, the settings might not appear.
- If you're using an external monitor, ensure it's connected to the laptop's HDMI or DisplayPort that is routed through the NVIDIA GPU.
3. Reinstall NVIDIA Graphics Drivers (Clean Installation)
- Sometimes a clean installation of the NVIDIA drivers can resolve this issue:
- Download the latest driver for your RTX 2050 from the NVIDIA website.
- During installation, select Custom (Advanced) and then check the box for Perform a clean installation.
- Complete the installation and restart your laptop.
4. Check Windows Graphics Settings
- Windows has its own graphics settings that might be overriding the NVIDIA Control Panel:
- Go to Settings > System > Display > Graphics settings.
- Make sure the apps you’re using (like Adobe) are set to use the High-performance GPU.
- Restart your laptop and check the NVIDIA Control Panel again.
5. Enable GPU Scaling in NVIDIA Control Panel
- Sometimes the option is hidden if GPU scaling is not enabled:
- In the NVIDIA Control Panel, go to Adjust desktop size and position.
- Ensure that Perform scaling on is set to GPU.
- Apply the changes and restart your system.
Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hi @iqrashahid,
Please find the next steps below.
6. Verify Windows Update Settings
- Ensure that Windows hasn’t overridden your NVIDIA drivers with a generic driver:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > View update history.
- Check if any display or GPU drivers were recently installed. If so, consider rolling them back.
7. Use DDU to Remove Existing Drivers
- If the problem persists, use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to completely remove existing drivers before reinstalling:
- Download DDU from here.
- Run DDU in Safe Mode to uninstall all NVIDIA drivers.
- Reboot your system, then reinstall the latest NVIDIA drivers.
8. Check for BIOS/UEFI Updates
- Sometimes, an outdated BIOS/UEFI can cause issues with GPU settings. Check the HP Support website for your VICTUS 15 model and update the BIOS if a newer version is available.
9. Reset NVIDIA Control Panel Settings
- If you’ve customized settings in the NVIDIA Control Panel, resetting them to default might restore the missing options:
- Open NVIDIA Control Panel.
- Go to Manage 3D Settings and click on Restore to reset to default settings.
If none of the above steps work, there could be a deeper hardware or configuration issue. In this case, contacting HP phone support for further assistance may be necessary.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
