I was about to start my homework when I suddenly noticed a cloud-like spot on my laptop screen. At first, I thought the screen was dirty, so I tried cleaning it, but it wasn’t dirt. I take really good care of my laptop, so it’s definitely not caused by any impact or physical damage.

When I turn off the laptop, the spot disappears, but it comes back as soon as I turn it on again. I just bought this laptop and would like to know how I can fix this issue.

@burakbulut, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

It looks like the issue you're experiencing might be related to a display anomaly or an update process on your laptop, as indicated by the text on your screen. Here are a few potential steps you can take to address the issue:

Update Your System:

It appears your laptop is in the middle of an update, as the screen shows a 7% progress message. Sometimes, system updates or software installations can cause display glitches, including temporary spots or artifacts. Here's what you can do:

Let the update finish completely. Once the update is complete, the issue may resolve itself.

If the update process is stuck, you can try restarting your laptop or forcing it to shut down (holding the power button for about 10 seconds).

Check for Display Driver Updates:

Sometimes display anomalies can be due to outdated or corrupted graphics drivers. Make sure your graphics drivers are up to date:

Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.

Expand the Display adapters section.

Right-click your display adapter (e.g., Intel, NVIDIA, AMD) and select Update driver.

Select Search automatically for updated driver software and follow the prompts.

Restart your laptop after updating the drivers to see if the issue is resolved.

Run HP Diagnostics:

HP laptops have built-in diagnostic tools that can help identify hardware issues, including display problems.

To run HP Diagnostics:

Restart your laptop and press ESC repeatedly while the laptop is booting up.

Select F2 for HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.

Run the System Test or Component Test, specifically the Display test, to check if there’s a hardware issue with your screen.

Perform a Hard Reset:

A hard reset can sometimes fix issues related to hardware malfunctions.

To perform a hard reset:

Turn off your laptop.

Disconnect all external devices (USB drives, external monitors, etc.).

Remove the battery (if possible) and unplug the power adapter.

Hold down the power button for 15-20 seconds to drain any residual power.

Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then turn the laptop back on.

Check for External Monitor/Display Issues:

If you have an external monitor, connect your laptop to it and check if the spot appears on the external display. This will help determine whether it's an issue with the laptop's screen or the internal graphics system.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
