Hi there,
I bought new HP Laptop 17-cp0176ng and thought, I can link it with USC-B-Hub to have a 1-pluf-option to shift my Monitor / with a single plug and easyly change that equipment with my work laptop for mobile work at home.
I was aware, that this laptop can not be charged via USB-C, but the rest should work. But it didn`t.
I connected and DELL Hub and Keyboard / Mouse / Printer / LAN were recognised well.
So far so well.
But the HDMI-Signal doe not pass - Monitor will not the linked via the USB-C-Port.
I also tried with a HDMI-USB-C-Adapater directly, but also that was HMDI signal did not pass.
First searching the internet I learned a lot about "Alternate Mode" of USB-C and that it might cause in USB-Cable or USB-C-Plugs, what shall work or not.
HP Support peolple told me, that the Laptop 17-cp0176ng does not support any USB-C-Hubs oder -Ports.
But this seems not to be totally true, because LAN / Keyboard / Mouse / Printer / USB-Stick - all are linked with that HUB, only HDMI is not.
Does anyone have any idea to get HDMI linked, too?
I know, there is a HDMI-Port on that Laptop and it works well.
So the 2-plug-solution does work properly. Anyhow I'm still looking for the 1-plug-solutions - if there is one.
Does anyone have an idea for that.
Many thank and kind regards
Besch

Its specs
https://support.hp.com/my-en/document/c08134016
It has a hopeless USB-C port: SuperSpeed USB Type-C® 5Gbps signaling rate which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to
- Charge your machine,
- Connect to an external monitor with/without hub/dock/adapter (some hubs may have builtin chip to support this)
If you wish to connect 2 external monitors (only), you can use
- Monitor 1: HDMI direct cable,
- Monitor 2: Using a Displaylink Certified USB-A to HDMI adapter such as
For more connectivity, please use
True Universal Docking Stations
Regards.
