I recently acquired an HP ENVY x360 Laptop – 15-ee0504na from my sibling and intend to use it for academic purposes. After purchasing the MPP 2.0 tilt stylus, I attempted to use it for writing, but unfortunately, it did not function as expected. Despite confirming that the device is compatible with my laptop and verifying that the system is functioning properly, the stylus remains unresponsive. I am considering whether an alternative stylus might resolve the issue, but I would appreciate any guidance or suggestions on troubleshooting the problem or identifying other compatible options.
ps. my sibling lost the original and forgot the name 😪

Hi @IzzyBe_e,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
For your HP ENVY x360 Laptop – 15-ee0504na, you should be able to use an HP Pen that is compatible with MPP 2.0 (Microsoft Pen Protocol). Since you’re having trouble with your current MPP 2.0 tilt stylus, here are some steps and alternative pens to consider.
Troubleshooting Tips:
- Check Battery: Ensure that the stylus’s battery is fully charged or replace it with a new one if applicable.
- Update Drivers: Make sure that your laptop’s drivers, especially for the touchscreen and stylus, are up-to-date.
- Compatibility: Double-check that your stylus is indeed MPP 2.0 compatible.
- Driver Reinstallation: Try reinstalling or updating the drivers for the stylus. You can find them on HP’s website or through Windows Update.
- Reset the Laptop: Restart your laptop and see if the stylus becomes responsive after rebooting.
Compatible Stylus Options:
- HP Rechargeable Active Pen G3: Designed specifically for HP devices with MPP support. It features 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity and tilt support.
- HP Tilt Pen: Another option that supports MPP 2.0 and provides a natural writing experience with tilt functionality.
- Microsoft Surface Pen: If it’s MPP 2.0 compatible, it can work with your HP laptop. Ensure compatibility before purchasing.
- Wacom Bamboo Ink Plus: Known for its versatility and MPP 2.0 support. It's a good alternative if the HP pens don’t work.
If the problem persists after trying another compatible pen, there might be a hardware issue with the touchscreen or stylus sensor.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
