There are 3 pens listed on the HP web-site, all out of stock. How can I tell which one will work with my new laptop? Pavilion laptop 15-eg1073cl

That's right, I agree with what the expert mentions @Dragon-Fur .
@wgander1 Your equipment is not designed to use an active pen.

Hello @wgander1 .
On your computer you can use a passive stylus (capacitive stylus) or the finger of your hands.

I don't know what that means. I need a part number...
The 3 listed are:
1MR94AA#ABL
2MY21AA#ABL
3J122AA#ABL
They don't mention capacitive, only that they need MPP2.0 and I don't know what that is either..

From where are you verifying that information you mention?

Apologies for jumping in unannounced.
The problem is not the part numbers - you already have these ...
The source of the difficulty: Your computer does not support an HP active pen / stylus.
Support for an active pen is not mentioned in either the Service Guide or in an internal document cross reference.
What about a "passive pen"?
What Is a Capacitive Stylus and How Do They Work?
Passive pens are NOT the same as an active pen / active stylus.
A Passive pen can open menus and perform basic functions.
