I am using an HP PROBOOK X360 435 G8  laptop. I want to purchase a stylus/ active pen for illustration design or drawing. Please confirm which stylus or active pen models are compatible with this device. Also let me know if any third party pens are supported and whether pressure sensitivity will work.

Hello @Rk13_07,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for choosing HP fror your new gadget addition.

According to HP community reports, the ProBook x360 435 G8 does support active pen input hardware, and the commonly recommended official pen for this model is the HP Pro Pen / Pro Pen G1

HP Pro Pen G1 – The primary HP-recommended pen for the ProBook x360 435 G8.

  • Typically supports pressure sensitivity (up to ~4096 levels) and basic inking/drawing.

  • Includes palm rejection and buttons for right-click/erase.

  • Works well with Windows Ink and drawing apps.

  • Tilt support may be limited or inconsistent depending on app and digitizer driver behavior (user reports vary).

HP Active Pen G3 – A more modern Bluetooth/USB-C rechargeable pen from HP that may work on many HP touch-screen laptops.

  • Has 4096 pressure levels.

  • However, official HP listing doesn’t clearly include the ProBook x360 435 G8, and it’s primarily marketed for Elite/Pro x2 and x360 devices.

  • Worth trying, but compatibility isn’t officially guaranteed.

Watch Out – Limited or Uncertain Compatibility

  • HP MPP 2.0 Rechargeable Tilt Pen – Works on laptops with Microsoft Pen Protocol (MPP 2.0), mainly HP Spectre/ENVY x360 models.

    • The ProBook x360 435 G8 may have a different digitizer (often AES or MPP 1.5-1.51), so pressure/tilt won’t reliably register with this pen.

  • HP Active Pen with App Launch and HP MPP 1.51 Pen are lower-end options and may work for basic touch/stylus but often don’t support robust pressure sensitivity or tilt features.

Hope this helps and you find your compatible stylus. Good Luck!
