Welcome to HP Support Forums. 🙂 I came across your post and understand that you have an HP Pavillion X2 and the white light near the USB port flashes when the charger is not plugged in. And it comes on when you pick it up. Maybe I can help.

As per the details I found in the user guide, it says that the following are the AC adapter and battery light indications:

  • White: The AC adapter is connected and the battery is fully charged.
  • Blinking white: The AC adapter is disconnected and the battery has reached a low battery level.
  • Amber: The AC adapter is connected and the battery is charging.
  • Off: The battery is not charging

Let me know if you need any further assistance. I am always here to support. Cheers!

Hi thanks for the reply, it goes on and off any time, even when the battery has been charged, it was doing it earlier and the battery was 89%, i have checked my battery on the hp support website and it says my battery is healthy, i wanted to check that its not draing the battery by staying on, i always have the laptop on battery saver mode

You're welcome. 🙂 It may happen this way because many notebook models continue to provide power to USB devices through the USB ports, even when the computer is powered off or in a suspended state.

Secondly, let me know if the wifi is always ON on the HP Pavillion X2. Because if Wifi is ON then it will utilize some battery power. You could try to calibrate the battery by referring to steps mentioned under "Manually Calibrating the battery" from this link: http://hp.care/2gjFSWc.

I am always here to support. Do let me know what happened. Good luck!
