home screen is suddenly chinese, haven,t used this laptop in about 2 months and now the home screen is Chinese, WHY???

This is starting to be seen more often now, so the follow are some steps to correct this ...


First, using an other PC, use the link below to download an English language pack for the OS version you are using:

Second, walk through the process of installing that, but do not actually install it. This is so you can see and make record of the screens and selections -- in English -- so when you try to do this on YOUR PC, if it shows the same in Chinese, the selections will be in the same place on the screen -- so you will know what to select.


Third, copy the language pack to a USB stick and remove that, and then insert it into your PC.


Fourth, run the language pack from your PC, clicking the same selections as before.


IF this works, when you reboot your PC, it should be back to English.
