A very warm welcome to the HP community. A very good day to you.
I understand that you have an HP ENVY Notebook - 15-ae103no laptop. I read that there is a display issue. Not worry, I'll do my best to help you.
I would like to know the following information to assist you better:
- Did any hardware changes take place on the laptop?
- Did any software changes or updates happen on the laptop post which this issue may have started?
- Do you have an external monitor to connect and check with this laptop?
I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:
- Power off the laptop.
- Remove the battery out. If the battery is integrated and does not have a latch to release it then leave the battery inside the laptop.
- Disconnected AC adapter from the laptop.
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the battery and plug the AC adapter.
- Power ON the laptop.
Please refer to this HP document for information regarding screen problems with laptops.
I also, suggest you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue further:
- Shutdown the laptop.
- Power on the laptop and hit the f10 key repeatedly (7-8 times) during the startup to enter the BIOS.
- Please observe if the display issue persists in BIOS or not.
Secondly, you may run a hardware test on the video:
-
Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
-
Turn on the computer and immediately press the F2 key repeatedly, about once every second.
-
The HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) main menu is displayed.
- Select component tests.
- Please initiate a test on the Video - This test includes 3 tests of the video hardware on your computer. Select one of the following tests, then click Run Once.
-
Video Memory Fast Check - 3 minute video memory test
-
Video Memory Check - 20 minute memory test
-
Palette Check - 1 minute test of the three video color components. Follow the on-screen instructions during the test.
I hope this information helps. Please feel free to reply with the results. Cheers! 🙂
