@urgentmessage

Sorry but the CPU is soldered to the system board.

Your manual here.

Look at page 17-18.

You only have one memory slot and the max ram is 4GB or 8GB.

Look at page 1.

Slow, right? It is a Pentium N low-end processor. I think this model was the Wal-Mart Black Friday door buster a few years back. Processor is soldered to the motherboard so no real upgrade path there. It is a single stick and you could upgrade it to an 8 gig DDR3L-1600 module like this:

Memory is really pricey now so I am linking you to a less expensive generic module:

If money is not a concern then get Crucial or Kingston name brand memory but it will be $15 or so extra.

Your only real upgrade option is a solid state drive in lieu of the slow hard drive. Figure about $75 for a 128 gig, $110 for a 256.

Post back with any questions but please accept as solution if this is the answer you needed.

thank you for replying to my post no im not slow im just not computer shavy yet still figuring  out stuf that were i bought my laptop from was walmart i know it can be upgraded to 8 gigs alot of people put in 16 with out problem that sucks with processor being embeded in board because there goes my chance of buying replacement board for it but at least i know i can upgrade the hard drive to terabyte witch my drive lays under neath the keyboard and they did away with windows oem key sticks for protection so i had to use command prompts to pull mine up and also i bought recover media flash drive and wount evan reset my pc back to right state i have to use version 1709 windows 10 home witch is out right now it gets past fbi debugging mode and wount get past installing ten software hp fixed it while it was under warrenty but the problem i have is its n3540 processor btw 2.16 ghz quad the problem i have is im gonna have to take apart my whole entire keyboard and mouse witch i use usb mouse of coruse i mean my synaptics mouse touchpad to get to dang hard drive so yeah i paid like 420 for mine a alsmot two years ago and it came with ten new in box red car racer color so yeah they dident have blue so they dident replace the recovery flash drive and there free as long you pay the shipping on em

I did not mean you were slow I meant the computer. 420 is a little salty for this hardware, even with the Red Flyer paint. You did not need a Key Code for Windows 10. And yes you do have to remove the whole top cover to get to the hard drive. There are somewhat better motherboards with better processors available for this model series you could use but for the cost of that you could buy a laptop that is better.

No one has ever put 16 gigs of memory in one of the "N" series Bay Trail models I can assure you, but some of the better motherboards do have 2 slots and could support 16 gigs. At today's prices, 16 gigs of high quality memory will be more valuable than the laptop.  Good luck.

Do u want to make the laptop faster if so u can buy  new memory (RAM) stick and install it this should increase the speed according to hp and other sources. I recomend talking to hp before you do anything to make sure it will work which it most likely will from i've seen and read online. Hope this helps.
