@RIP6, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
If your OMEN by HP 16.1-inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-wf0000 series is having trouble connecting to a 5 GHz mobile hotspot, follow these troubleshooting steps:
Check Mobile Hotspot Settings: Ensure that your mobile hotspot is configured correctly and that other devices can connect to it without issues.
Update Network Drivers: Ensure that your laptop's network drivers are up to date. You can check for updates via the Device Manager or by visiting the HP Support website.
Network Adapter Settings: Sometimes, specific settings on the network adapter might need adjustments:
- Open Device Manager.
- Find your network adapter under "Network adapters".
- Right-click the adapter and select "Properties".
- Under the "Advanced" tab, ensure that settings like "Preferred Band" are set to "Auto" or "5 GHz".
Reset Network Settings: Resetting network settings can help resolve connectivity issues:
- Go to Settings > Network & Internet.
- Select "Network reset" at the bottom of the menu.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to reset network settings.
Try Other Devices: Check if other devices can connect to the 5 GHz hotspot. This helps determine if the issue is with the laptop or the hotspot.
Reboot Devices: Restart both your laptop and your mobile hotspot to clear any temporary issues.
If the problem persists, consulting with HP technical support or visiting the HP Support Assistant page for further troubleshooting might be beneficial.
