My laptop will not connect to my 5g router. 2.4 Ghz works fine. From what I understand, my wifi adapter is compatible with 5G. Adapter: Realtek RTL8822CE 802.11ac PCie.

Has anyone had similar issues? How did you resolve it?

Hi:

Yes, that model wifi adapter is supposed to work on both the 2.4 and 5.0 GHz wifi bands.

The only suggestion I can offer would be to see if updating the wifi driver to the latest version resolves the problem.

Hey Paul,

Thank for the reply. Already tried that, still facing the same issue. Haven't a clue what to do.

You're very welcome.

Sorry that didn't work.

Unfortunately I don't have any other ideas for you to try other than to contact HP support in Russia and submit a support case under the warranty.

It's possible the 5.0 GHz wifi radio is defective.

That's a good point, I'll get on this tomorrow.

Hey Paul,

I downloaded the HP diagnostics tool and ran a component test on the wifi module. The component test came back as "FAIL". There's no step-wise guide I can find as to what to do next.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Hi:

If the diagnostics tool reported a failure report, then the wifi card is no good and needs to be replaced.

If your notebook is no longer under warranty, here is the link to the service manual where you can find the wifi card removal and replacement procedure...

Much appreciated!

Thankfully the device is brand new and should be under warranty. Thank you once again!
