Hi, @mystic-sci
The drivers you were given assume that your notebook has one of the required WWAN adapters installed.
Every Elitebook 840 G4 has a SIM card slot.
What 90% of them don't have is the expensive option of an installed WWAN card.
In order for the SIM card to work, your notebook has to have one of the supported WWAN adapters.
Go to the device manager. Click to expand the Network adapters device manager category.
If none of the following adapters are listed there, your notebook cannot connect to a cellular network, and you would need to install one of those WWAN cards in order to do so.
