But after downloading and installing the first link, it did nothing at all. Now the SECOND LINK worked for 2 or 3 days and when my computer restarted for updates, no more WiFi. I tried reinstalling everything and at this point I am desperate. Please help

Please try to perform a clean install wifi driver:
(a) Download and save the following software to your machine (you probably still keep it)
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp98001-98500/sp98235.exe
(b) Use Device Manager to uninstall Realtek wifi driver
(c) Reboot machine
(d) Right click downloaded file and select Run as administrator,
(e) Reboot machine
