Airpods 4 VNC connects well via Bluetooth and the system sees audio and microphone, but I can use only headphones and wen I try to use microphone in Zoom or try to record voice nothing happened and device disconnects after its.
I updated drivers via HP Help Center, I updated all last updates for Windows 11 and the problem didn't solve. No idea what can I do

Hi @KastyaMakoto,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're having an issue where your AirPods 4 are connecting as headphones but not working properly as a microphone with your HP Spectre x360 Convertible Laptop PC 13. Let's go through a few troubleshooting steps to help you resolve this issue.
Set AirPods as Default Input Device
- Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select "Sound settings".
- Scroll down to the "Input" section and select your AirPods as the default input device.
- Make sure the volume slider for the microphone is set to a reasonable level (50-80%).
Check Privacy Settings for Microphone
Windows may be blocking microphone access for certain apps:
- Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone.
- Ensure that microphone access is enabled for the system and that Zoom or any other apps you’re using are allowed to access it.
Update Bluetooth Drivers Manually
- Go to Device Manager.
- Expand Bluetooth, and right-click on your Bluetooth adapter (likely Intel or Realtek).
- Select "Update driver" and choose "Search automatically for updated driver software".
- Restart your PC once the update is complete.
Disable Hands-Free Telephony
Sometimes, AirPods struggle when set as both the microphone and the output device:
- Open Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers.
- Right-click on your AirPods and choose Properties.
- Go to the Services tab and uncheck "Handsfree Telephony".
- Click OK and reconnect your AirPods.
Troubleshooting Zoom Settings
Make sure Zoom is recognizing the AirPods as the microphone:
- Open Zoom and go to Settings > Audio.
- Under Microphone, select your AirPods and test the mic.
Test the Microphone in Voice Recorder
Open the Voice Recorder app in Windows and test if the AirPods’ microphone works. If it disconnects again, it could be a driver or Bluetooth compatibility issue.

Reset AirPods and Reconnect
- Reset your AirPods by placing them in the charging case, holding the button on the back until the light flashes amber, then reconnect them to your laptop.
Check for Bluetooth Power Management Settings
Windows may be turning off the AirPods to save power:
- Go to Device Manager > Bluetooth, right-click your AirPods, and select Properties.
- Go to the Power Management tab and uncheck "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".
Windows Troubleshooter
Run the Windows Bluetooth troubleshooter:
- Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
- Run the Bluetooth troubleshooter and see if it detects any issues.
If none of the above steps resolve the problem, you could also try connecting your AirPods to a different device (e.g., another laptop or phone) to ensure the microphone is functioning properly.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
