I can't afford to pay 70.00 for microsoft word. i've had apache open office on my last HP notebook. I suppose it's completely safe to download the new apache 4.51 from Apache right?  Appreciate the advice. If Apache is free, i wonder why? I mean who pays for it? Their advertisers? i looked on their webpage for a few min and then when i tried to dowload, it says it's coming from opensource.  Then after about 2 min. after dowload attempt, it says "unknown publisher" do you want to continue so i said NO.  I got this straight from openoffice.org. why would it say unknown publisher?  Something just doesn't look right with so many advertisements surrounding what i wanted to do. Thanks

Paul is right - this great software is free, independent, fully functional.  Open Office is used by businesses, schools, community service groups, individuals, IT groups...

The website provides a lot of information, including explanations Why.

Hi:

Yes, I have that program installed on my W10 PC.  I have used it for years...when Oracle hosted the development.

I believe the current version is 4.1.5, not 4.5.1.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to answer your other questions.

I have never looked a gift horse in the mouth.   I'm just happy it's free.

OK, very much appreciated. AFter downloading, about a few hrs later i get an update with adobie flash. I've had trouble with adobie flash with my last hp notebook. i wonder if it was a part of open office or just a coincedence?  I once heard there was a virus going around with adobie flash. I don't hear too much.

if you guys are still reading...have any of you ever heard of microsoft giving someone a year free with office word? It's embarassing not to be able to pay for it but i'm below poverty. so sad.  my resumes look great but when i copy and paste to open office text doc. it's all messed up. i can spend an hour not being able to make it fit the box. I did manage to monkey with it enough but cant seem to get the bullets smaller like they were in office.

i don't need any help. i'll figure it out.

Hi

Apache/Open and LibreOffice all stem from the original StarOffice.

So this book...

will cover most of your needs I hope.

It is not a huge download so should be achievable at zero cost?
