Hey,

The password it's asking for is the WiFi Direct password printed on your printer - usually on a label on the back or inside the paper tray door. It's an 8-digit number, case matters.

But honestly, skip WiFi Direct. It's easier to connect your printer to your home WiFi first, then your iPad will find it automatically.

Try this:

  1. On the printer, press and hold the WiFi button and Information button together for 3 seconds
  2. It'll print a network setup page
  3. Download the HP Smart app on your iPad
  4. Open HP Smart and tap the + to add printer
  5. Follow the prompts to connect the printer to your home WiFi

Once the printer is on your home network, your iPad will see it without needing any passwords.

If you're still stuck, let me know if the printer has any lights blinking and what color - that helps narrow it down.
