Microsoft Windows 11

Hello, I have tried looking for this answer, but it seems it has not yet been asked. I am looking to upgrade to WiFi 6/6E & Bluetooth 5. Does anyone know if there is any BIOS Whitelist for wireless cards in the 15-dy1086nr? Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi:

Unfortunately, no one here would be able to provide that information, since HP does not publish any info on what model series have whitelists.

What I have learned over the many years I have been a member of the HP support forum is this...

All notebooks made in 2011 or earlier have BIOS whitelists.

80% - 90% of those made in 2012 have BIOS whitelists

50% - 50% made in 2013 have BIOS whitelists

80% - 90% of those made in 2014 or later do not have BIOS whitelists.

I cannot find any posts where anyone has upgraded the wifi adapter in your notebooks model series.

This is probably because of two reasons...

1.  They are satisfied with the RTL8821CE AC wifi adapter that your specific notebook comes with.

2. They do not want to go through the trouble of completely disassembling the notebook including the display panel area, to properly run the second antenna wire that would be required for a Wifi 6 card to function correctly.

And if your notebook is one of the few that may have a whitelist, that work would have all been in vain.

If your notebook had come with the RTL8822BE or CE AC wifi adapter, then it may have been worth the risk, since that card also requires two antenna wires to function properly.
