HP Notebook - 15-ac179tx
macOS 10.13 High Sierra

I purchased a BCM94352Z (WiFi+Bluetooth) card and installed it in my laptop.  But, once I boot the laptop up I get an error saying,

Wireless module not supported.
The system has detected a Wireless module installed in the system is not supported. System halted. Please remove device and restart.
Bluetooth Module ID (704)

Error seen on bootError seen on bootI've searched on the net and most sites say that HP doesn't have whitelists for laptops after 2014. This does not seem to be the case for me? Is there any way around this so that I can get my card to work?

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Forums.

I understand that you have installed a BCM94352Z (WiFi+Bluetooth) card into your HP Notebook - 15-ac179tx. And since then the laptop does not boot up. There is an error saying "Wireless module not supported. The system has detected a Wireless module installed in the system is not supported. System halted. Please remove device and restart. Bluetooth Module ID (704)". I'll be glad to assist you with this case.

During my research, I found that the following wireless card are tested successfully with your laptop: (Source: Page# 30 of the service guide)

I suggest you to remove the wireless card you have installed and try one of the above wireless cards that has a bluetooth function. These parts can be purchased through the HP Part Surfer website: http://partsurfer.hp.com

Hope this information helps.Feel free to keep me posted for any further questions.

Cheers! 🙂

@ you for responding.

The link to the service guide you posted doesn't seem to be the one for my laptop (all instructions for disassembly are different). I couldn't find a service guide specific to my model.

Is there a larger list of cards for which my laptop was tested with? The problem is my OS supports a very limited set of WiFi cards. Here's a link of the cards supported: https://osxlatitude.com/forums/topic/2120-inventory-of-supported-and-unsupported-wireless-cards/

Glad to have you back.

I'm afraid, this is the only closest user guide available with the listed wireless cards.

Another option that you may attempt is to call our HP phone support team. They should be able to check and let you know if anymore wireless cards are available for this model apart from the ones I mentioned.

1) Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/

2) Click on "Continue as guest".

3) Enter the serial of your device. You can refer to this Link: hp.care/2bygf7l for help in locating your Serial Number.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Click on "Show Options".

6) Fill the web-form. A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions.

Good luck! 🙂
