I have an interesting Bluetooth problem between my HP X360 laptop and a connected Bose Soundlink Revolve.
These devices pair well (maybe too well...I'll explain below) and I have zero issues with playing music / audio through the combo. My challenge is actually to ensure the speaker shuts up....!
The flow is weird so see how I go presenting this
I'm using my PC now to write this. In the background my speaker is playing music via bluetooth (and is ONLY connected to this laptop).
When I finish entering this issue I will "sleep" my laptop or I could select to remove the speaker from the bluetooth connected devices. (I can just close the lid, I can select to sleep from the Windows | Power | Sleep options for example)
Or.... I could walk to the speaker and select the power button and turn the speaker off.
This is where it becomes interesting, and I'm not sure if this is a laptop thing or a speaker problem but.....some time later, it might be 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 3 or 4 hours (totally variable)....either the laptop or the speaker wakes up and the first thing I hear from the speaker is "Ready to pair" or "Connected to <laptop name>".
It's quite frustrating especially at 3 in the morning when I hear "Ready to pair". The only way to stop the devices from waking and trying to connect is to power the laptop down. Windows | Power | Shutdown.
Has anyone seen similar?
I have contacted Bose and they have never seen this before.

I think I'm resolving my own issue, or at least giving myself something to confirm.
Although this is most annoying when my speaker launches into telling me that it is "Ready to connect" at dark o'clock (between 1am and 3am often and wakes me from sleep), I believe that this speaker is waking because the laptop wakes first.
The laptop might be waking to install / confirm updates are available and this is enough for the speaker to recognise another bluetooth presence.
I will try turning off the speaker and also turning off the laptop rather than sleeping both

@thbean, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP ENVY x360 - 13-ag0014au is waking up for updates or other system tasks, which then triggers your Bose SoundLink Revolve to power on and attempt to reconnect.
Possible Causes & Solutions:
Laptop Waking from Sleep (Triggers Bluetooth Reconnection)
Windows may be waking up automatically for updates, maintenance, or network activity.
Fix:
- Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options > Change Plan Settings > Change advanced power settings.
- Expand Sleep > Allow wake timers > Set to Disable (on battery and plugged in).
- Expand USB settings > USB selective suspend setting > Set to Enabled to prevent unnecessary USB device wake-ups.
Bluetooth Devices Can Wake Your Laptop
The Bose speaker may be configured to wake the laptop via Bluetooth.
Fix:
- Open Device Manager (Win + X > Device Manager).
- Expand Bluetooth > Find your Bose SoundLink Revolve > Right-click and select Properties.
- Go to the Power Management tab and uncheck "Allow this device to wake the computer."
Disabling Bluetooth Wake Functionality
If the issue persists, disable Bluetooth waking the laptop entirely.
Fix:
- Open Device Manager > Expand Bluetooth > Find the Intel Bluetooth Adapter (or similar).
- Go to Power Management and uncheck "Allow this device to wake the computer."
Windows Updates & Network Activity
Your laptop could be waking up for Windows updates or network pings.
Fix:
- Go to Settings > Windows Update > Advanced Options > Pause Updates (for testing).
- Check Event Viewer (Win + X > Event Viewer > Windows Logs > System) to find wake-up events.
Bose Speaker Auto-Reconnect Behavior
Some Bose speakers attempt to reconnect even if manually turned off.
Fix:
- Turn off Bluetooth auto-reconnect in the Bose app.
- Before sleeping the laptop, remove the Bose speaker from Bluetooth settings (Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices > Remove device).
Completely Shut Down Instead of Sleep
Since you already found that shutting down the laptop prevents the issue, consider using Hibernate instead of Sleep.
Fix:
- Open Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do > Enable Hibernate.
- Use Hibernate instead of Sleep, which won’t trigger wake-ups.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Wow Max3Aj
This is very comprehensive, so I thank you.
I've worked through about half of this today and will see how this goes, and continue until complete.
I too thought that the updates might be triggering this but you have pointed me to several more possibilities.
Thanks very much

Hi Max3Aj
I have Windows 10 Home so don't have power management via Device manager but have checked every option via Device Manager | Human Interface Devices as per image and ALL are unchecked.
Still early days but seems so far that your guidance is spot on......

@thbean, Thanks for the update!
It looks like you're making progress. The Device Manager screenshot you shared shows that you've checked the Power Management settings for an HID-compliant device. If you've already disabled "Allow this device to wake the computer", that's a great step toward preventing unnecessary wake-ups.
Since Bluetooth-related devices may also contribute to the issue, be sure to check your Bluetooth adapter's power settings in Device Manager under Bluetooth (especially for the Intel Wireless Bluetooth or Realtek Bluetooth Adapter). You can disable "Allow this device to wake the computer" there as well.
I hope this helps!
