HP EliteBook 8470w
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My Bluetooth switch is missing. In device manager, it doesn't show my Bluetooth device even when I show hidden devices. When I run the Bluetooth troubleshooter it says that my computer doesn't support Bluetooth. I tried booting from a Ubuntu Live USB and turning it on from there but it said that I didn't have Bluetooth.

Hi:

Not all 8470w's came with Bluetooth.  It is a separate hardware component.

If you don't see an option in the BIOS to enable/disable bluetooth, then the module is not present.

Booting from an Ubuntu installer and turning on the BT in Ubuntu should have worked if the module was present and enabled in the BIOS.

I enabled it in BIOS and it showed my device as an unknown device. After a few seconds that disappeared and the Bluetooth section was there. Now I can use Bluetooth. Thanks.
